     The federal census taken in 1810 enumerated 6,176 inhabitants in Crawford County in 985 households. The name of only the head of each household was recorded. Free white household members were grouped by sex and then by age. The five age categories were as follows: under ten; ten through fifteen; sixteen through twenty-five; twenty-six through forty-four; and forty-five or over—the same as in the previous census. Two additional columns counted other free persons in the household (excluding untaxed Indians) and slaves. Column totals are shown in the chart below, with those from the 1800 census given for comparison. Asterisks indicate discrepancies from the official tally.1
