9 July 1800 Created from part of Neshannock Twp., Mercer Co.1
Boundaries:  Beginning at the North West corner of Mercer County thence Eastwardly with the line thirteen and a half miles thence with a line of Donation Land Southwardly until it strikes the South side of the fourth District of Donation Land thence Westwardly with said line to the state line Thence with the same north to the place of beginning.
July 1801 Southern part lost to creation of Pymatuning Twp., Mercer Co.2
[Ordered] that the line between the 4 and 5 Donation Districts be established as a Township line dividing Salem in two the Southern [part?] of which to be called Pymatuning ....
Aug. 1805 Western part lost to creation of West Salem Twp. [q.v.]
28 March 1808 Northern strip lost to Fallowfield Twp. [q.v.]
