SADSBURY TOWNSHIP.
The township was erected in 1811, and lies a little south-east of the centre of the county, and contains 11,996 acres.  The first settlement of which there is any record is that of Samuel and Matthew Williamson, in 1798.  Dennis Hughs emigrated from New Jersey in 1802.  The population in 1870 was 1,068.  In north-eastern part lies Conneaut Lake, a beautiful sheet of water furnishing fishing and boating facilities.  The borough of Evansburg lies at the foot, and is becoming quite frequenter [sic] as a summer resort.  This town with the village of Shermansville and Evansburg Station, (Stony Point P. O.,) on the A. & G. W. R. R., which touches the southern part of the township, are the post offices with[in] its limits.  During the year ending June 1878, there were seven schools in the township, with an average attendance of 142 scholars.  The amount expended for school purposes was $1,817.24.
